Vicki Grandanette Hano has been married to Andrew Hano (New York City) since 1979. We have two boys. Michael Hano passed away 10 years ago. Steven Hano is married and has three children. Andy and I love to travel. I enjoy playing mah-jongg, reading, golfing, and enjoying all of the beautiful things to do in downtown St. Petersburg. We have lived in Florida for 38 years. We moved to downtown St. Petersburg Florida nine years ago.

Married with four wonderful children. Living in Oregon since 1982. I would love to have been in Des Moines to reconnect with everyone at the 50th but we just recently moved my 94 year old Mom to Oregon with us.

I have been a public servant since I was elected to the Polk County Board of Supervisors in 1998. Community engagement has always been my top priority and I enjoy participating regularly in neighborhood organizations and civic activities. I represent Polk County on nearly a dozen boards and have worked on countless regional initiatives. I married my high school sweetheart, Tom (Dowling class of ‘71), and together we have three children and four grandchildren.

Married to Dan Goering since 1978. We have four children, eight grandchildren ( the oldest is 29 and the youngest is six), and eight great grandchildren. I worked in the technology field for 40 years before retiring at 60. I spent time traveling the U.S. and world when I was still working. Today we’re enjoying our lives in the country near Truro, Iowa. One of our favorite things to do is dining out and I write reviews on local Iowa restaurants. We have four dogs and are avid birdwatchers. We take road trips around Iowa to see what kind of birds we can find.

Married to John Szymoniak (Dowling Class of ‘71). Retired in 2009 after working 31 years with the United States Forest Service. Lived in Montana, Washington, Oregon and Boise, Idaho during Forest Service career. Moved to Panhandle of Florida in 2020 and enjoying the good life with our two labs Rio & Shana.

Cindy Schaefer Smith - I have been with UnityPoint Health for 55 years at UnityPoint Health; currently IT Analyst; married to Hollie Smith for 48 years in June! We have 2 kiddos & 2 grandsons. We live in my childhood home in Beaverdale along with 3 Yorkies.

I have been married to Bill Reese (North High graduate '72) for 47 years and have two children and 5 grandchildren. My recent retirement from owning and running a commercial embroidery business for 25 years has been wonderful. Now I get to enjoy my free time with boating, golfing, and spending it with my grandkids at our home in Panora/ Lake Panorama, Iowa.

I worked as an accounting specialist for 38 years at Fiserv in West Des Moines.

Retired in 2017. Currently traveling and enjoying the outdoors. We make our own wine. We have bees, and a koi pond. I have 2 dogs and 3 cats. We live in the country in Madison country near Winterset.

Mary Szymoniak Polson, retired from Principal Financial Group, currently working part time for Westover Funeral Home, I’m very active in my Urbandale community. Married, no kids, 2 dogs (Hana and Lou) and an 18 year old goldfish ! I enjoy golf, camping and annual trips to Florida!
